Kitsap, WA | IF Project Co-Founder in Spirit & Legacy
Renata Abramson was a pivotal force in the founding of The IF Project. While incarcerated at the Washington Corrections Center for Women, Renata responded to a single question—“If there was something that someone could have said or done to change the path that led you here, what would it have been?”—by inviting fellow women to share their own reflections. Her leadership and vision sparked the first 25 essays that became the foundation of The IF Project’s nationally recognized model of storytelling, healing, and transformation.
In December 2024, Renata tragically passed away in a house fire. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy lives on in every story shared, every life changed, and every voice uplifted through The IF Project. Her courage continues to inspire our mission and guide our work.
